When Round Lake Beach became an incorporated village in 1937 it had already been inhabited for a century. Early settlers, most of whom were of Irish or English descent, were farmers who specialized in stock and fruit growing. In the 20th century, Round Lake Beach became a popular summer destination for Chicagoans.

One of the benefits Round Lake Beach residents enjoy is the ability to live in a small, safe close-knit community while having easy access to one of the country’s most renowned cities. Round Lake Beach residents are close to a thirty-minute drive away from the Chicago Cubs, famous museums, world-class dining and entertainment – including some of the country’s best jazz.

Round Lake Park District also offers organized activities such as youth and teen camps, holiday events and even Frisbee golf!
